MLHR Animal Care & Health Supervisor

Job Description
My Lovely Horse Rescue Charity are looking for an experienced Animal Care Supervisor for our pig rescue in Co. Kildare. We have 160 animals at our rescue, 130 of which are pigs. The ideal candidate will be very experienced in handling rescued pigs as well as rescued sheep, goats, donkeys and horses. They will also have previous experience in a leadership role.

Responsibilities
• Provide a high level of husbandry for 160 animals at the rescue
• Administer medications as prescribed by a veterinary professional
• Keep accurate logs and records relating to all animals on site
• Provide support to the Rescue Manager
• Coordinate and manage a large team of volunteers in Managers absence
• Delegation of tasks to a large team of volunteers
• Provide induction training to new volunteers
• Facilitate farm tours for volunteers and visitors

Essential Skills
• Veterinary Nursing qualification required
• In-depth understanding of what constitutes good health in pigs and the risk factors which affect same
• Able to recognise the subtlest of changes in animal behaviour that may indicate potential health issues
• Advanced knowledge of pig husbandry & pig nutrition
• Experience interpreting pig behaviour
• Experience safely handling aggressive and nervous pigs
• Ability to identify signs of common illnesses in pigs
• Administration of oral medications
​• Administration of intramuscular and sub cutaneous injectable medications
• Understanding of animal fertility and how to avoid unnecessary pregnancies
• Managing and minimising the risk of animal ill health due to changing environment and weather conditions
• Critical and quick thinking in emergency situations
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills

My Lovely Horse Rescue Charity Shop Manager,  Dublin City
Contract: Permanent (3 month trial period)
Hours: 40 hours per week

We’re looking for a shop manager to oversee daily operations at our New Dublin City Charity/Vintage shop and ensure it runs smoothly and effectively. As the store manager, you will be responsible for motivating the shop volunteer team, developing business strategies, and upholding the operational and organizational standards of the store. Additionally, you will recruit and train new volunteer staff, and take on other administrative tasks as needed, such as monitoring inventory levels. The right candidate will be a friendly people person communicator and demonstrate leadership skills.
Responsibilities
  • Recruiting, training, supervising shop volunteers and TUS/CEE Programme volunteers
  • Managing budgets
  • Maintaining statistical and financial records
  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints
  • Overseeing pricing and stock control
  • Achieving sales targets and boosting profits.
  • Motivating shop volunteers
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Preparing promotional materials and displays
  • Liaising with and reporting to MLHR line Manager.

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work well with others

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in a managerial position but not required
  • Working knowledge of business development best practices

Come and work for one of Ireland's largest animal rescue centers. We are looking for an experienced farm administrator to help with the day to day organization and administrative duties.

Duties to include but not limited to:

Organizing the live-in Volunteers to ensure clear communication and expectations are given prior to arrival.

On arrival ensuring new volunteers have had an orientation of the living quarters and yards, and have been provided with the appropriate PPE.

Be the point of contact for live-in Volunteers to ensure any conflict or requirements are being dealt with.

Organize the resources for the onsite facilities so that there is no shortage of goods required.

Monitor any maintenance issues and troubleshoot where appropriate or contact management to action.

Liaise with farm management to ensure there are ample Volunteers for the workload required.

Checking and replying to emails in an efficient and professional manner and communicating with other departments of any issues or follow up required.

Provide admin assistance to farm management and other departments. This could include making calls, producing different forms or procedure documents, making vet appointments or whatever is required.

Liaise with corporate groups to facilitate corporate volunteering days and provide all necessary details to the farm management.

Provide informational tours to different groups around the farm highlighting the work of the organization and answering any questions in a professional manner.

Offer admin and hands-on assistance with the intake and outgoing animals.

Required experience

2 years working in a busy admin role is required.

Having worked with animals previously would be an advantage but not required.

Driver license preferred but not essential

Come and work for one of Ireland's largest animal rescue centers. We are looking for an experienced farm Kennel Manager to help with the day to day Dog duties.

Duties to include but not limited to:

Making sure all kennels are cleaned, all dogs walked.

Vaccinations and worming up to date

Booking appointments with vets

Organize the resources for the onsite facilities so that there is no shortage of goods required.

Monitor any maintenance issues and troubleshoot where appropriate or contact management to action.

Liaise with farm management to ensure there are ample Volunteers for the workload required.

Checking and replying to emails in an efficient and professional manner and communicating with other departments of any issues or follow up required.

Provide admin assistance to farm management and other departments. This could include making calls, producing different forms or procedure documents, making vet appointments or whatever is required.

Provide training to new Kennel volunteers and dog walkers on the MLHR farm highlighting the work of the organization and answering any questions in a professional manner.

Offer admin and hands-on assistance with the intake and outgoing of dogs.

Shop Manager – Edenderry, Co Meath

My Lovely Horse Rescue, MLHR, is a registered charity committed to the rescuing, rehabilitation and rehoming of equines and other animals and giving them all a life worth living.
The Role
MLHR is looking for a Shop Manager to join our charity shop in Edenderry.
If you want to help support the work which MLHR does with the hundreds of animals we rescue each year by enabling our charity shop to continue its financial success and enhance its contribution as a vibrant part of the local community, then this is the role for you.
This is an excellent opportunity to be creative and use your own initiative in a friendly and very supportive environment.
We need a positive, fun and capable person who will be responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and motivating a team of volunteers to ensure sales targets are met and profitability is maximised. You will ensure high standards of customer service at all times and be resourceful at sourcing stock through donations.
You will be responsible for managing budgets and be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, preparing promotional materials and displays.
Our Shop Manager will require a range of skills and experience:
·         Minimum 2 years retail management experience;
·         Proven track record of managing staff rotas and recruitment;
·         Previous experience of staff management, building and motivating teams
·         Experience using social media to increase sales;
Although this is a management job there will be a certain amount of lifting and sorting of donations as you work with your team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To be responsible for the daily management and running of the shop including donation stock procurement
 
To develop and maintain friendly and professional communication with our MLHR supporters and with local communities and businesses
 
To ensure the shop is competing effectively with local competitors and initiate ideas such as sales promotions to increase sales
 
To ensure all volunteers maintain a high level of customer care and to manage their rotas
 
To undertake cash register procedures (end of day cash up/voids) and daily cash sheets
 
To act as a keyholder for both charity shop and stock room
 
To ensure that health and safety procedures are understood and implemented by all volunteers (as per shop manual)
 
To do all within your power to keep MLHR property secure and in good working order
 
To report monthly to MLHR Board with overview of shop
 
Skills required:
Good level of computer skills in all MS programmes including emails
Good working knowledge of social media
Effective time management skills with rostering experience
Ability to delegate tasks and strong people management skills
Previous management experience and have a proven track record in managing and motivating staff members
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
