My Lovely Horse Rescue & Education Centre Home Appeal
Over the last 10 years My Lovely Horse Rescue has gone through many transformations. Back in the day, the founders rescued horses and paid to keep them in livery. They called on their friends to help and didn’t even have a horse box, they borrowed one.
Six years ago they rented a farm from an amazing family in Kildare and that has been our home since then, a massive amount of work has been done since then. We now have over 100 Volunteers and thousands of kind supporters who help to fund the rescue, through fostering, donations and running fundraisers. We couldn’t do it without every single one.
MLHR has grown. We have the main farm in Kildare, our MLHR farm in Cork who are doing amazing work and our dedicated My Lovely Pig Rescue which has over 60 pigs at the moment and a waiting list! We get calls from all over the country for help. Our three farms are no longer enough.
Recently we put a call out looking for help with land, as our farms are so busy we are running out of space. The response was both huge and heartwarming. However, this year has been busier than ever and has no signs of slowing down.
We love when we are able to find a forever home for our rescues and now realise the charity needs a forever home itself. This will ensure that all animals who become part of the MLHR family will always have a place to go. A place with enough space and facilities for everyone, so we can continue to always say yes to animals in need.
Everyday we see things that are heartbreaking and want to champion real change. At MLHR we believe education is a major factor in achieving this. Our forever home will not only be home to our animals but also our new education programs. By running programs for the youth of Ireland, Programs on animal welfare with the Gardaí, and having open days to the public we hope to grow our MLHR family to include everyone, so they can see the work we do and the work that still needs to be done by everyone, together, to tackle animal welfare as a whole.
